View the skyline from this observatory as one of the free things to do in Tokyo.

Offers a spectacular view all over Tokyo from the top floor. It is open late, completely free, and described as the best spot for a panoramic city view.

Shinjuku is more than just the biggest train station in the world; there’s amazing free viewpoints, nightlife, photo spots and Tokyo’s cheapest Sushi to discover here👇🏻 📍10 Yen Sushi (Namae no nai Sushiya - Sushi place without a name): Tokyo’s cheapest Sushi can be found in a small side alley in Shinjuku’s Kabukicho red light district. They have daily specials where you can order up to 20 pieces of two kinds of Sushi for just 10 yen (7 us cents) a piece. You do have to order a drink and there is the usual table charge which comes with a small plate of Edamame. Price: As low as 1000 Yen. 📍Shinjuku Government Observatory: Not only the best free but I would argue one of the best overall observatories in Tokyo can be found around 15 minutes walking from the train station with the Shinjuku Government Observatory. At 200+m above the ground, you can get amazing city views into the night at 9PM. Cost: Free. 📍NeWoMan Mall Roof Terrace: A nice lowkey rooftop at Shinjuku’s Southern exit on top of the NeWoMan mall. There’s plenty of space to sit and you can enjoy some nice views over Shinjuku. A great spot to see the sunset around Shinjuku station. Cost: Free. 📍Train Photo Spot: This photo spot has become really popular on social media recently. It is located around 15 minutes walking from Shinjuku’s eastern exit, I’ll leave the exact location in the description, and allows you to capture two trains running through the frame at the same time, although the timing is hard. Cost: Free. 📍Sky Plaza Ibasho: Part of a hotel, this newly renovated chill out space/coworking space is the perfect spot to get some work done or study with stunning views over Tokyo. Daytime access is between 8:30 AM and 16:30 PM and comes with all you can drink Starbucks drinks (hot and iced) while nighttime access goes until 10PM with alcohol being available for extra purchase. There’s great wifi and plenty of seats with outlets. Cost: 2000 Yen daytime, 5000 Yen nighttime.

One of the best observatories in Tokyo, located around 15 minutes walking from the train station. At over 200m above the ground, you can get amazing city views into the night until 9PM. It is a free attraction.
