Do not skip Asakusa even if it seems super touristy at first; check these spots out instead ⬇️ 📍Senso-ji: One of the most famous sights in Tokyo. But is is worth it even if it is super crowded. One tip to get away from the crowds is to get up on the rooftop of the Asakusa Visitor Center for amazing free views and, if possible, to visit at night or early in the morning when there’s way fewer people around. 📍Sumida River Walk: One of the nicest recent additions in this area in the public walking path that was built between Asakusa and Tokyo Skytree. Starting from Asakusa, you cross a walking bridge over Sumida River before walking over a nicely newly created area underneath train tracks of the Tobu line with some lovely restaurants and shops. A really nice walk in Tokyo and few people as well. 📍Kappabashi: One of my favorite places for shopping in Tokyo is Kappabashi which focuses on high-quality kitchen utensils and other related goods. The perfect place to pick up a Japanese knife, chopsticks, plates and basically anything for back home. Almost all of the shops do offer tax-free shopping. As a bonus, make sure to check out Kappa-dera, a shrine dedicated to Kappa, the name patron of this area. 📍Hanayashiki: Hanayashiki is Japan’s oldest amusement park and is located just 5 minutes walking behind Senso-ji. You do have to pay entrance and the rides separately but especially the high up rollercoaster gives you great unique views over the area. Highly recommended as a couple spot or if you are traveling with kids. 📍Enshuya: Due to its popularity, unfortunately, many restaurants in this area charge exorbitant prices to foreigners, making finding a good spot to eat a bit of a challenge. One great restaurant that I can recommend is Enshuya, an old-school restaurant focusing on fish, including the local delicacy of eel. Prices are very reasonable, especially at lunch and you won’t find many other tourists in this spot.

A favorite Tokyo shopping area focused on high-quality kitchen utensils and related goods. Perfect for picking up a Japanese knife, chopsticks, plates, and other kitchen items. Almost all shops offer tax-free shopping.
