One of the best things about living in Paris? So many beautiful towns are just an hour (or less) away—and they’re easy and affordable to visit. Vernon and La Roche-Guyon are perfect for a day trip or weekend escape.

France is so much more than Paris. These towns deserve more love—and through these videos, I hope to inspire more people to explore them (even on a budget!).
I’ve wanted to visit La Roche-Guyon for over a year, so I’m so happy to finally share it. 

We took the train from Gare Saint-Lazare to Vernon (50 min), wandered the town, and picked up picnic supplies—there’s a lovely spot just across the bridge.

From Vernonnet, we caught bus line 10 (€2 pp, cash accepted). After a 10-min ride, the driver kindly dropped us at Rue des Arches. From there, it was about a 30-min walk into town.

✨ Tip: The walk isn’t super pedestrian-friendly (no sidewalks), so I’d suggest a taxi or Uber—it’s a 10-min drive, about €10–12. We Ubered back because that hill... was not for me 😂

La Roche-Guyon is magical. The château is breathtaking in person. There’s a cozy tearoom nearby, plus restaurants and vintage shops (closed Mondays). Dogs aren’t allowed inside, so Lev and I took turns watching Lola—and waving from the windows 🐾
